U.S. Secretary of State Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy visits Azerbaijan
U.S. Secretary of State Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy Richard Morningstar is on a one-day visit to Baku, the U.S Embassy in Azerbaijan reported. During the visit, Morningstar will meet with senior governmental officials. The main topic on the agenda is U.S. support and cooperation with Azerbaijan to diversify regional oil and gas supply routes to European and world markets. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton appointed Morningstar as special envoy to provide strategic advice on the development, transit and distribution of energy resources in Eurasia in 2009. During earlier visits to Azerbaijan, Morningstar reaffirmed U.S. support for the Nabucco project and other initiatives promoting Europe's energy security.
