Moscow marks jubilee of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic
Today, a scientific-practical conference dedicated to the 85th anniversary of formation of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was opened in a conference room of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations.
The event was opened by Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu, who spoke about the importance of this region for Azerbaijan and its statehood.
"Nakhchivan is the ancient land of Azerbaijan. There are many cultural monuments. They belong not only to our country but entire Muslim civilization. Nakhchivan is a motherland of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. All trends actively develop including education, theater and children's institutions," he said.
He noted that the event is organized on the initiative of Russia Office of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
The Moscow office of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva thanked the leadership of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations for assistance in conducting the event.
"The Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic marked 85th anniversary in 2009. This date was widely marked in Azerbaijan. Today it is celebrated in Moscow. We have an opportunity to demonstrate what we are truly proud of. Nakhchivan is an integral part of Azerbaijan. Its history has thousands years. Its outstanding sons have left a significant mark not only in the history of this region, but gained world famous," she said.
"It keeps a lot of mysteries, many unsolved mysteries. This is the story of Noah, and other legendary historical figures. Today, it s a modern region with a new economy, infrastructure, bridges, roads, schools, hospitals, " Leyla Aliyeva said.

Vice-Prime Minister of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Tarana Guliyeva told about the history and present of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, its economic and social-cultural development.
Writer Rudolf Ivanov delivered a report dedicated to historic peripetia of Nakhchivan in late 18 - early 19 centuries. He published many books on the history of this ancient land and revealed a lot of pages of history of its prominent sons - generals and rulers.
Expert of the information-analytical center of the Moscow State University Alexander Karavaev spoke about the economic characteristics of Nakhchivan, which he has collected during trips over Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
