Interfax agency reported that Iran recalled its ambassador to Azerbaijan for consultations after a visit by Israeli President Shimon Peres to Baku.
Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Iran Abbasali Hasanov was invited to the Iranian Foreign Ministry. The Iranian embassy in Baku has no information about the protest against the Peres’ visit.
Elkhan Polukhov, the Spokesperson of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told APA that neither the ministry nor Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran has received any official request from Iran. “It would be incorrect to comment on media reports when there is no official information confirmed,” he added.
