Azerbaijani President: “Our army is the mightiest army of this region”
President acquainted himself with the military equipment, communication devices, radiolocation observation systems and fire fighting equipment. Defense Minister,
Colonel-General Safar Abiyev reported to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief about the operative tactical state of the exercises. Following this, President watched the exercises of the units and weapon systems. Supreme Commander-in-Chief handed presents to a group of servicemen for distinguished military service and on the occasion of the 91st anniversary of Azerbaijani Armed Forces and made speech.

President congratulated the servicemen and said Azerbaijani Army was strong, army build-up was continuing successfully.
“After Heydar Aliyev returned to power in 1993, activities began towards army build-up in Azerbaijan,” he said.

The head of state said the proficiency increased in the army, he often visited military units, witnessed increase of military power of the country.

Aliyev noted that the military expenditures had been increased over the past five years and it further strengthened the military power of the country at all. The president emphasized that the Army of Azerbaijan was ready to cope with any tasks. “The talks conducted 15 years do not give positive results. In the case, we must rely on our military power. Therefore considerable measures have been taken for further strengthening our army potential over the last couple of years. Today, our army is the mightiest army of this region. In case of necessity, we can use our military power to restore Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity. This is our sovereign right. I have no doubt that Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity will be restored and we will put an end to this injustice, because all international legal norms are in our favor. The war has not ended yet. Only the first stage of the war ended. We must always be ready to liberate our native lands from the occupation”.
