Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's campaign manager claimed victory in Iran's presidential election
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's campaign manager claimed victory on Saturday in Iran's presidential election after official results showed him defeating his moderate rival by a wide margin with more than two-thirds of votes counted, AFP reported.
Head of Iran's election committee Kamran Daneshjoo said that after 77 percent of the votes counted, Ahmadinejad is ahead, garnering 65 percent of votes, and his rival Mirhossein Moussavi garnered 32% of votes, RIA Novosti reported.
Daneshjoo also said that turnout may reach 80%.
