Agenda of next CIS Council of Heads of Governments' meeting in Astana made public
The next meeting of CIS Council of Heads of Governments has started in Astana today. A total of 18 draft documents will be discussed at the meeting.

The heads of governments will discuss the first stage of the CIS economic development strategy 2009-2011, economic development strategy by 2020, plan of important actions on humanitarian cooperation for 2009-2010, draft decision on the plan of action concerning the further development of education space of CIS and issues on cooperation in education in 2010, agreement on the exchange of information in combating crimes, plan of joint actions on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the victory of the Great Patriotic War, preparation of the jubilee medal "The 65th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War in 1941-1945", agreement on cooperation in investigating the accidents in the state-owned aircrafts in CIS states, legal documents in library, literature, translation etc.

CIS Economic Development Strategy is a comprehensive document covering the period up to 2020 and a mutually agreed system of CIS states' views on overall objectives, priorities and prospects for socio-economic development in the context of deepening of interstate economic relations aimed at making the Commonwealth a meaningful participant in the international system economic relations. It assessed the place of the CIS in the world economic system and the overall economic situation in the Commonwealth are set out the aims and objectives of economic integration, identifies the main areas of collaboration in the field of economics.

The aim of the Strategy is to give new impetus to the economic development of the CIS, ensuring stable and balanced economic growth, economic security, welfare and quality of life.
Its implementation is expected to be implemented in three phases.


The Action Plan to implement the first phase of the Strategy contains a series of measures in the areas of system and key areas of economic cooperation between CIS states in 2009-2011.
The plan of action prepared by the need to minimize the effects of global financial and economic crisis.

The document envisages the expansion of cooperation among states in industrial production, implementation of inter-state programs, particularly in energy, transport, agro-industrial complex. In the social sphere, the relevance of measures to promote employment and create new jobs, to bring together the legislation on employment, labor migration. .Separate sections of the Plan relating to enhanced cooperation in mutual trade, fuel - energy complex, energy, money - financial sector, exploration and use of outer space and protect the environment.
