Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov starts visit to Azerbaijan
Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has just arrived in Baku for a working visit, APA reports.The visit will last for two days. Official representative of Russian Foreign Ministry Andrei Nesterenko said Sergei Lavrov is expected to meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
“Russia attaches great importance to the bilateral cooperation with Azerbaijani leadership, discussions on regional and international issues,” he said.
Andrei Nesterenko said Sergei Lavrov and his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov would discuss bilateral relations, various aspects of regional and international issues.
The ministers will also exchange views on deepening cooperation in UN, CIS and other international structures.
Russian Foreign Ministry’s official said the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict and legal status of the Caspian would also be discussed at the meetings.
Tomorrow Sergei Lavrov and Elmar Mammadyarov will participate in the official opening ceremony of Russian Culture and Information Center.
