Construction of Nabucco to commence in 2011, transmission of gas in 2014
Nabucco gas pipeline is going to be constructed in 2011 and gas will be transmitted in 2014, Nabucco Managing Director Reinhard Mitschek said at conference in Ankara, Turkey, APA reports quoting RIA Novosti.
He noted that Azerbaijan would export 8 bln cu.m gas via this pipeline.
“Turkmen President promised to transmit gas via Nabucco. 8-10 cu.m gas will be enough for initial stage,” he added. The Managing Director stressed that Iran had gas reserves and said that they needed political support to buy gas from this country.
“We are not against Russia’s participation in the project. If Russia contributes any suggestion, we will discuss it with our partners”, he added.
The project worth 8 bln USD would carry Caspian gas 3,300 km (2,051 miles) across Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary to an Austrian distribution hub. Nabucco will cover 20-30 bln cu.m gas transfer.
