Armenian President skips World Economic Forum meeting
Serzh Sargsyan is believed to avoid meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev.Armenian president Serzh Sarkgsayn is reported to skip the “Energy Outlook 2009” meeting held within the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The meeting which was also attended by Azerbaijani and Turkish president had to be delayed due to Armenian president as well as the Armenian Foreign Minister`s prolonged absence.
Meanwhile, Azerbaijani and Turkish presidents along with Iranian Foreign Affairs Minister went on answering the questions at the meeting. It was not long before the end of the meeting that Armenian Foreign Minister showed up at the scene. President Sargsyan, however, was still absent. He is believed to skip the meeting because of his fears of facing harsh criticism.
It is not the first time Armenian leaders avoid meeting their Azerbaijani counterparts. Former president Robert Kocharyan is also said to have left the Azerbaijani-Armenian peace talks over Daqliq Qarabaq conflict in France on toilet excuses.
