GREEK ENERGY POLICY FOCUSES ON NETWORKS INTERCONNECTION: MINISTERGreece’s energy policy focuses on interconnection seeking to take advantage of its fundamental role in the transportation of oil and natural gas supplies from the Black Sea and Caspian Sea to Europe, Development Minister of Greece Christos Folias said at Southeast European Economic Forum in Sophia, ANA-MPA reported.

“Greece has proven it is a reliable partner in large scale initiatives, seeking to dynamically promote significant growth targets,” Folias said.

Minister said the Greek position is clear: energy balance is a precondition for peace and prosperity. That’s why efforts to develop synergies must be continuous, overcoming hesitations and delays.

Folias said the inauguration of a Greek-Turkish natural gas pipeline a year ago, has opened a new era of cooperation between the two neighbouring countries, while construction of a Greek-Italian gas pipeline and an expected signing of an agreement between Azerbaijan, Greece, Italy and Turkey will practically implement an EU energy policy seeking to establish different sources of energy supplies.

The Greek Parliament and the Bulgarian Parliament have already ratified the South Stream natural gas project with Russia and noted that the project was expected to be completed by 2015, Folias noted.
