SERZH SARGSYAN SAYS HE DOESN’T EXPECT PROGRESS IN SETTLEMENT OF NAGORNO KARABAKH CONFLICT UNTIL THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS IN AZERBAIJAN
“I don’t think that there will be any progress in the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict until the presidential elections in Azerbaijan”, said Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan in his interview to the Turkish newspaper “Radical”, APA reports.
He said the conflict settlement depended on the political will of the sides. “We discussed this issue with President Ilham Aliyev on June 6 in St. Petersburg. Both Azerbaijani President and me positively appreciated results of the meeting and consider that we held negotiations necessitating the continuation of dialogue. Then we urged the foreign ministers to continue negotiations within the Madrid principles. The ministers have already held three meetings. We are hopeful that we can make decisions based on these principles and accepted by the sides. It is not correct to speak about any expectation until the presidential elections in Azerbaijan. All depends on the political will. We are ready to show political will”, said Sargsyan.
