SENATE COMMITTEE ON FOREIGN RELATIONS CONFIRMS MARIA JOVANOVICH’S NOMINATION AS U.S. AMBASSADOR TO ARMENIA
U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations confirmed Maria Jovanovich’s nomination as the U.S. ambassador to Armenia. APA reports quoting Novosti-Armenia agency that Jovanovich will take the office after her nomination is also confirmed by the Senate. President George Bush nominated Jovanovich to this post in March this year. Addressing the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations on June 19 the diplomat called the events happened in Ottoman Empire in 1915 massacre, not genocide. This caused discontent of the Armenian lobby.
