GAZ DE FRANCE NOT ALLOWED TO NABUCCO  The candidacy of French energy company Gaz de France as a seventh member of the consortium on the project of construction of Nabucco gas pipeline, was canceled, the press service of the French company said to TrendCapital by telephone.
The press service of Gaz de France did not divulge the reasons for canceling company’s candidacy. The managing director of Nabucco Gas Pipeline International Reinhardt Mitchell was not available for comments.
The participants of Nabucco include the Austrian OMV, Hungarian MOL, Bulgarian Bulgargaz, Romanian Transgaz, Turkish Botas and German RWE. Each of the participants holds equal shares – 16.67% each. Nabucco project worth $12.4bln is expected to deliver gas from Azerbaijan and Central Asia to EU by 2013.
Last week, the director general of the new energy company Gaz de France-SUEZ Jean Francois Sirelli stated that if company takes part in the construction of Nabucco gas pipeline, it will be still interested in obtaining part of the gas transported through the gas pipeline.
According to Sirelli, creation of new gas supply route is in favor of Europe.
On 16 July, the French Gas de France and private French-Belgium Suez merged which resulted in the establishment of the one of the largest energy companies of Europe in the sphere of gas, energy and water supply. GDF-Suez will become third largest energy company of Europe and largest seller of liquefied natural gas all over the region.
