During his two-day visit Gianni Buquicchio will attend the ceremony dedicated to 10th anniversary of the Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan and will meet with the President of Azerbaijan, Foreign Minister, Chairman of the Central election Commission and NGO leaders. The issues of development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Venice Commission will be discussed at the meetings. The Venice Commission issued its opinion on the annexes and amendments to the Electoral Code of Azerbaijan last month. The Commission said the Electoral Code needed to be improved further, but despite that the collection of laws is a strong basis to hold elections according to the European standards.
