“G-8” LEADERS REFUSE PROPOSAL OF RUSSIAN PRESIDENT ON EXPANDING COMPOSITION OF THE BODY

“G-8” leaders refused proposal of Russian President on expanding composition of the body, Spokesman for Japanese Foreign Ministry told journalists, APA reports.
Three member countries refused the proposal. They stated that the body was closed discussion club of heads of states, who shared general values of G-8, increase of attendees would lower quality of discussions. G-8 cooperates with other countries in various formats. Heads of 16 states, Austria, Chine, Brasilia and India, including member countries attended the Summit. Before Summit, Russian President proposed Chine, India and Brasilia’s membership. French President proposed expanding composition of the body and put forward Chine, India, Brasilia, South African Republic, Mexico and one of Arabian countries’ memberships. U.S President and German Chancellor briefed the journalists about results of negotiations and noted that final resolution includes elimination of results of global climate changes, joint cooperation combating price rises. U.S President added that Germany and its country were coordinated on Iran problem. Humanitarian assistance to African countries will be debated in the Summit. The Summit will envisage modern economic needs, global problems, price rise of oil, crisis on world finance, international security.
