EU TO UNVEIL CONCRETE PROPOSALS ON EXPANSION OF COOPERATION WITH AZERBAIJAN
European Union will unveil concrete proposals on expansion of cooperation with Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus in spring 2009, Christian Homann, EU Deputy Commissioner on Foreign Relations told APA. He said bilateral Azerbaijan-EU discussions were not scheduled after the approval of Eastern Partnership initiative by other member-countries. “There is European Neighborhood Policy program for that. Eastern Partnership will be developed in parallel with this program. Regional integration process will be carried out within the framework of Eastern Partnership program that GUAM countries, Moldova and Belarus will be able to develop their relations with EU at the same time. We have no format for the expansion of cooperation yet. In this context there are initiatives like establishing of free trade zones and elimination of visa regime”. Homann added that these issues would completely be concretized next spring.
