US CONGRESS COMMITTEE CONFIRMS CUTS TO A PLANNED MISSILE DEFENSE SYSTEM IN POLAND AND CZECH REPUBLIC

US House of Representatives Armed Forces Committee rejected changes to the country’s defense budget for fiscal year 2009, which proposed to restore 232 millions dollars for a planned missile defense system in Poland and Czech Republic, APA reports.
34 members of the Committee voted against the proposal and 24 congressmen supported it. After the congressional discussions, defense budget for 2009 decreased the funding of missile defense system in Poland and Czech Republic by 232 millions USD. President George W. Bush demanded 719.8 millions dollars for this purpose in the budget project he sent to the Congress.
