The delegation comprising US Californian Senate legislators today met with the members of the Azerbaijan-US inter-parliamentary friendship group. The sides had comprehensive exchange of views on expansion of bilateral cooperation. Samad Seyidov, chairman of the MM international relations and inter-parliamentary ties standing committee noted high bilateral relations between the two countries, adding that the United States is an important partner for Azerbaijan.
In particular, the US play important role in settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict. The US backs territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, who, in turn, is beside the United Stats in fighting terrorism.
Azerbaijan with strongest economic power in region plays significant role in the South Caucasus, Seyidov underlined.
Expressing pleasure with their visit to Azerbaijan, head of the delegation, Chair of US California Senate Environmental Quality Committee Joseph Simitian said the key goal of the visit was to receive information about Azerbaijan, the realities of country. The visit will promote further expansion of bilateral relations with Azerbaijan which plays important role in the South Caucass, he stressed. At his words, there is a consensus among the 40-member Senate of California in regard with Azerbaijan.
