President Ilham Aliyev receives special representative of Iranian President for Caspian affairs and chairman of Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia
Yesterday, president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received special representative of the Iranian President for Caspian affairs Mohammad Mehdi Akhundzadeh. They discussed bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Iran and the current state of the ongoing talks to prepare legal status of the Caspian Sea.

The parties underlined the importance of the summit of Heads of State of Caspian countries held in Baku.

Then, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received chairman of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia Mikhail Shmakov. Shmakov underlined the necessity of the 2nd conference on "Migration problems and challenges: role of Trade Unions" to be held in Baku.

He said the event is organized together with the International Labor Organization, and representatives of various countries would participate in the conference. The chairman underscored the main aim of the event was to discuss international migration issues.

He stressed the importance of Trade Unions organizations' works to protect rights of worker immigrants. Shmakov said the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia and the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation have fruitful cooperation.

He added this important issue was reflected in a new agreement signed with the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation. The Head of State said cooperation between the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia and Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation would contribute to developing bilateral relations.

Touching upon regulation of activities of immigrants, President Ilham Aliyev stressed the importance of this issue for development of bilateral relations and cooperation within the CIS.

President Ilham Aliyev said the number of immigrant workers coming to Azerbaijan increases as the county is developing rapidly. He particularly underlined the progress done in the direction of labor activity of immigrants.

Shmakov presented a photo of a group of persons, who once headed Soviet Union's Trade Unions, taken with Azerbaijan's national leader Heydar Aliyev. The Russian chairman awarded the Head of State with honorary silver sign of International Confederation of General Trade Unions and gold order of Trade Unions Committee of International Communication Workers.

Shmakov also presented a model of the monument prepared on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia to President Ilham Aliyev.
