Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation of Turkey plans to realize a number of significant projects together with Azerbaijani military facilities, chief of sale and export department of the corporation reported.

The department chief said the corporation closely participates in the provision of the armed forces of not only Turkey, but also friendly countries, including Azerbaijan. Akgul said within the framework of the cooperation the corporation implemented projects on transfer of technologies, export of raw materials and some spare parts to Azerbaijan facilities.

"We will cooperate in a number of spheres within the framework of the contract signed at IDEX. It covers production of MP5 submachine guns, 40 mm revolver grenade launchers and their ammunitions, joint research and scientific studies, joint sale of Azerbaijani products," he underlined.

Noting that ammunitions for Kalashnikov automatic rifles produced in Azerbaijani facilities are of high-quality, Akgul said joint sale of this product is possible.

Akif Akgul underlined that joint production of IST-12.7 Istiglal sniper rifle created by Azerbaijan engineers is also the theme of discussion.

“We are interested in the projects on joint production. One of them is 12.7 sniper rifle. The project is on the stage of transfer.

Akif Akgul said the corporation wants this weapon to conform to the caliber used in the NATO armies. First of all, studies will be conducted for this. As regards 14.5 mm version of Istiglal sniper rifle, Akgul said this caliber is not used in NATO armies, but IST-14.5 is very popular as anti-material rifle. He underlined the possibility of selling this weapon, or producing some parts of this weapon in Turkey.
