CASPIAN HUMAN RIGHTS SCHOOL

Human Rights for civilized world have become universally recognized norms of human society in XX century. Today when Azerbaijan is actively integrating into European Institutions, legal education in the sphere of human rights has been included into the current issues of the day. Teaching human rights should be started at schools. In order to organize effective legal education, first of al there is a necessity in preparation of qualified specialists for teaching human rights. This problem, even if in further perspective can be solved through developing appropriate education programs that are addressed to first of all young people, who will determine the future life of the country.

“Caspian – Partnership for the Future” Public Union joint with Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and AR Ministry of Education has successfully implemented the next project on the enlightenment of regional teachers about human rights issues. Thus, during September-November 2005, March-May 2006, and finally August-November 2006 Human Rights School Regional Project has been realized in the following regions – Lenkeran, Devechi, Ganja, Shamkir, Barda and Shamakhi, finally in Gedebey, Ali Bayramli, Imishli, Jalilabad, Shahbuz and Nakhchevan.
During the Project launched from August 15 2006 three-day trainings were organized for regional teachers in Gedebey, Ali Bayramli, Imishli, Jalilabad, Shahbuz and Nakhchevan and Human Rights issues have been taught. Average number of 100 teachers have participated in the trainings and received certificates.

According to the program of training during three days 12 themes were taught by interactive methods of teaching. Every seminar participant received “Human Rights in Schools” book that was prepared in the frames of the first Human Rights School Project and republished in the frames of new Project; and also other necessary materials. Interactive teaching methods were applied directly on teachers.

Baku report conference is the final stage of the Project. The main aim behind holding this report conference is to discuss the problems occurred during the implementation of the Project, to stress the reached achievements and to work out recommendations on conducting those kinds of Projects and their future expanding.
