US FORECASTS ON OIL PRODUCTION IN CASPIAN SEA FALSE  “Oil production in the Caspian region turned to be lower than US state-run Energy Information Agency (EIA) had forecasted,” head of EIA Guy Caruso said to American The Hill newspaper.
«There have been big disappointments in a lot of places. We thought there would be more produced out of Russia than is produced now,” he said.
According to Caruso, EIA’s false forecasts resulted from different factors - “there have been a number of delays to projects.”
Development of Kashagan oil field in the north of the Caspian Sea has again been postponed to 2013. Initially, production in the field was planned to commence in 2008. Last year, Italian company Eni reported that production in the field was postponed to 2010 and expenditures on the project would be far more than expected. The consortium engaged in development of the field is headed by Italian Eni and includes Shell, ExxonMobil, Total, ConocoPhillips, Japan’s Inpex and KazMunayGaz. |

USA SUPPORTS AZERBAIJAN IN ENTRANCE TO WTO: U.S. DIPLOMAT  The USA is satisfied with the process of Azerbaijan’s entrance to the WTO and in future, America will support Azerbaijan in all regards, the U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Anne E. Derse, said during the meeting with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economic Development, Heydar Babayev, on 23 June.
“Azerbaijan is a country with large economic potential and human resources. Country’s entrance to the WTO will help development of non-oil sector of Country,” Derse said.
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economic Development, Heydar Babayev, expressed gratitude to the U.S. for supporting Azerbaijan’s entrance to the WTO. |

“SETTLEMENT OF POLITICAL ISSUES TO ENABLE EXPORT OF IRANIAN GAS TO EUROPE” – NABUCCO HEAD  “As soon as the political situation will allow that, gas exports from Iran to Europe will take place,” Reinhard Mitschek, Managing Director of Nabucco Gas Pipeline International, said to Hungary’s BBJ newsaper.
“So we expect gas from Azerbaijan, from Turkmenistan, from Kazakhstan, from Iran, from Iraq, from Egypt, from Russia. And therefore we are not fully dependent on one of these sources because we expect a whole portfolio of gas-supply sources. That’s very attractive for the gas buyers in Europe,” Mitschek said.
This month US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Matthew Bryza said Washington would oppose construction of Nabucco in case it is to transport Iran’s gas to Europe. |
