DEVELOPMENT OF BIGGEST KAZAKH OIL FIELD ANEW POSTPONED  Shareholders of the international consortium Agip KCO support the re-postponed development of the Kashagan field in Kazakhstan to 2012 or 2013, Sauat Minbayev, the Kazakh minister for energy and mineral resources, stated in Astana on 12 May.
“The foreign participants in the consortium want to delay the term. They hold different scenarios and offered 2012 or 2013,” Minbayev said.
Earlier, the sides reached an agreement to delay the term of production from 2008 to 2011 following long and difficult talks between the governments of Kazakhstan and project members. |

DROP IN OIL PRICES TO WEAKEN FOOD CRISIS  The high oil prices is one of the reasons of the global food crisis, said experts interviewed by TrendCapital. Robert Zellik, the President of the World Bank said last week that the world food crisis will continue up to 2015. Therefore, he called on to change their policy in agricultural industry in order to supply population with the key cereals.
According to Andrew Reed, the oil market expert of U.S. analytical company Energy Security Analysis (ESAI), lower oil prices would probably take some of the pressure off food prices and in that sense ease food crisis. |
