BP AND PARTNERS COMMENCE AZERI LIGHT OIL PRODUCTION ON GUNESHLI FIELD IN AZERBAIJAN  BP Company, operator of the full-scale development project of Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli fields, commenced producing Azeri Light oil from the deep parts of Guneshli, the Company stated on 22 April. Production commenced from one well. Earlier before establishing the platform, pre-drill wells were drilled on the field, which are currently being put into operation.
Beginning oil production on the Guneshli field will provide the opportunity to increase the gross volume of production in the contracted area Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli up to 1mln barrels of oil per day in 2008. The key volume of the oil production from Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli is being exported via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan. |

EBRD’S INTEREST IN AZERBAIJAN SHOW COUNTRY’S LEADING POSITION IN REGION  The interest of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Azerbaijan has proved to be in the leading position of the country in the region as a result of which the total volume of bank financing in the country exceeds $1bln, Heydar Babayev, Azerbaijani Minister of Economic Development stated.
The bank’s interest, according to the Minister, is a result of economic reforms held in the country, which was approved by Manuel Sager, EBRD Executive Director, during his meeting with the Minister in Baku. |
